Citrus ZERO ice lollies

With summer promising to be a scorcher this year, going out on a ride or hitting the road for a jog can seem exhausting before you’ve even headed out the door. Hydration is so important at this time of the year, because your body loses water at a much faster rate to keep you cool through sweat.

During just half an hour of exercise, we can lose up to 500ml of fluids. When we sweat, it’s more than just water though. Our sweat is made up of key minerals known as electrolytes such as sodium, potassium and magnesium. Exercise is associated with high sweat rates, and this can become a major challenge to an athletes water and electrolyte balance. Dehydration can impair your body’s ability to maintain its core temperature, causing it to rise.

But we’ve got the perfect solution… a refreshing HIGH5 ZERO citrus ice lolly! These are super simple and crazy delicious, you’ve got to give them a try.

Makes 4 medium-sized ice lollies

– 250ml cold water, preferably filtered

– 2 tabs ZERO Citrus flavour

– 1 small lemon, sliced thinly

Optional extras:

– Handful of blueberries

– 1 tbsp orange zest

– Handful of strawberries/raspberries

Dissolve your HIGH5 Citrus ZERO tabs in 250ml of cold water. Make sure  to stir well so that the tabs don’t dissolve and sit at the bottom of the mixture. If you’re using any of the optional extras, add these now. Pour the mixture into your ice lolly mould and add a slice or two of lemon as you go. Insert popsicle sticks and place in the freezer until frozen solid (overnight is best).

To remove from the moulds, gently place bottom of moulds in warm water until the popsicles pull free.
